Mumbai, Maharashtra | The Navi Mumbai International Airport reached a major milestone as it successfully conducted its first flight validation test, signifying the readiness of the facility for operations. CEO BV JK Sharma shared insights into the project’s evolution, from groundbreaking challenges to this remarkable achievement.

“When we started work after the change of management on 4th August 2021, many villagers were living here, there were 45 temples, and a massive hill spanning 55 crore cubic meters of stones,” Sharma revealed. “It was all deconstructed. We laid a ground, and then a terminal was built on top of it.”

The airport, a state-of-the-art facility designed to alleviate congestion at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, is set for its inauguration on April 17, 2024. Sharma noted that it typically takes about a month post-inauguration for a terminal to be fully open to the public.

From overcoming logistical challenges, such as relocating communities and demolishing natural obstructions, to now preparing for its operational phase, the journey underscores the scale of this transformative project.
