A mysterious missile-like object landed in the iconic Dal Lake in Srinagar on Saturday morning, causing panic among residents and tourists alike. The incident occurred following a series of loud explosions that reverberated across the city shortly after dawn.
According to officials, the object plunged into the lake with significant force, and thick smoke was seen rising from the water’s surface moments after impact. Dal Lake, one of Kashmir’s most prominent tourist destinations, was quickly cordoned off by security personnel.
“An unidentified object resembling a missile landed deep in the lake. We're assessing the damage and verifying its origin,” a senior official said, requesting anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the ongoing investigation.
The incident comes amid escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan, following Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory strike on terrorist launchpads along the Line of Control.
