Railways is also working long on a project to lay third and fourth line in Odisha and Jharkhand section of South Eastern Railway which will facilitate smooth movement of goods and passenger trains. Railways have also initiated major track laying and infrastructure development work around Santragachi railway station to ensure that current train bottleneck and slow movement of trains does not occur in future. Passenger and goods train slow don and stop at Santragachi and take a long time to reach Howrah station but Railway officers mentioned that tracks are being newly laid and infrastructure work is being initiated to tide over it. Srivastava added that on most of these lines automatic signalling will be installed for greater efficiency, safety and security.
