Imphal, Manipur: As COVID-19 cases continue to climb in Manipur, the state's health authorities have sounded a note of caution, urging residents to remain vigilant and proactive in curbing the spread of the virus. Dr Chambo Gonmei, Additional Director of Family Welfare Services, issued a public statement highlighting the growing threat and advising citizens to take immediate preventive steps.
“We urge everyone to stay informed about COVID-19, as it has now spread to other parts of the state and the number of cases is increasing every day,” said Dr Gonmei. He underscored the importance of early detection and testing, especially for individuals showing signs of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). “Anyone experiencing symptoms of SARI should get tested for COVID-19 without delay,” he emphasized.
Health officials are concerned about a potential resurgence of the virus, which could strain healthcare resources and jeopardize public safety. Dr Gonmei called on communities, local bodies, and workplaces to play an active role in controlling the spread.
“To achieve a COVID-free state, let us sensitise our communities, societies, and colleagues by avoiding crowded places, maintaining hygiene, and following all necessary precautions,” he said.
