Manipur crisis: state government in a state of despair

BY A STAFF REPORTER: The Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh is demanding withdrawal of suspension of operation with United People’s Front and Kuki National Organisation. Incidentally, Biren Singh was instrumental in pushing for suspension of operation which was penned on February 17,2023. The suspension of operation, according to the document accessed by ANM News is scheduled to run through for an year from March 1, 2023 till February 29, 2024. Ethnic strife has rocked Manipur and there is a sharp divide between the tribal and Meitei communities which has left thousands homeless and hundreds dead. Local residents alleged that there is a complete breakdown of law and order in the state. Pressure mounted on N Biren Singh to resign as Chief minister but he has refused to do so even after ghastly incident of two women raped and paraded naked came to limelight.
