BY A STAFF REPORTER: The situation in Manipur is getting worse. Curfew has been imposed in various parts of the state to bring the situation under control, but the tension has not subsided. The Manipur Governor on Thursday ordered a shoot-at-sight. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to restore peace in the neighbouring state.
On Thursday afternoon, Mamata Banerjee said, "I am deeply concerned about the situation in Manipur. This is not the time for politics. Politics and elections can wait, but we have to protect our beautiful state Manipur first. Therefore, I request the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to first take care of Manipur and bring peace there. I also appeal to our brothers and sisters in Manipur to remain calm. Let them maintain peace and harmony. If we burn humanity today, we will become inhuman tomorrow. "
