New Delhi: Union Minister Anurag Thakur has attacked opposition-ruled states on the issue of violence against women. His targets were Rajasthan, West Bengal and Bihar. Targeting Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Thakur said, "Mamata is a symbol of cruelty. Women are being tortured so much here. What is Mamata Banerjee doing? In Malda, two women were beaten to death and made half naked. Videos of these are being made again. Where did Mamataji's 'Mamata' go? Where has the government gone? Where is the investigation taking place? From Bengal to Bihar, Rajasthan, RJD, TMC or Congress, attacks on women are on the rise in opposition-ruled states.” He also says, ‘Rajasthan has become the number one state in crime against women. A total of 1.09 lakhs incidents of crime against women in the state in last 4 years and 22% rape cases in India are from Rajasthan. Instead of taking any steps against the criminals. CM Ashok Gehlot sacked one of his ministers Rajendra Gudha for raising his voice against atrocities on women in the state.’
