By A Staff Reporter: TMC leader Kunal Ghosh has reiterated that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is not seeking any leadership position in Delhi but is focused on creating a robust alternative platform to counter the BJP’s dominance across the country.

Speaking on the evolving dynamics within the INDIA alliance, Ghosh said, “Mamata Banerjee has made it clear that she is not interested in any 'chair' in Delhi. Her primary focus is on building a strong platform capable of defeating the BJP.”

He highlighted the successes of regional leadership in the battle against the BJP. “In West Bengal, we have defeated the BJP under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership. Similarly, in Jharkhand, the JMM, led by Hemant Soren, successfully pushed back the BJP. However, in states like Haryana and Maharashtra, where Congress had the main responsibility, they failed to deliver.”

The TMC leader’s remarks come amidst speculation about Mamata Banerjee being considered a potential face of the INDIA alliance. “Given her track record and her leadership in defeating the BJP in Bengal, senior leaders within the INDIA alliance are suggesting her name as the face of the coalition,” Ghosh added.

He also urged the Congress to introspect on its recent electoral failures. “The Congress needs to conduct a self-analysis to understand why they underperformed in Haryana, Maharashtra, and the Lok Sabha elections,” Ghosh said, hinting at the challenges the alliance faces in presenting a unified front.
