The Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday urged farmers to make India self-reliant in terms of pulse production by December 2027. 

While addressing a national symposium held on self-reliance in pulses, Shah introduced the ‘e-samridhi portal’ for registration, payment, and purchases of Farmers who produce ‘Tur dal’ 

The home minister assured that the government, on Minimum Support Price (MSP), will purchase the pulses of those who register with the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation Of India (NAFED) and National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation (NCCF). He also revealed that Tur Dal’s MSP is rs. 7000 compared to 2014-15's rs 4,350. 

Shah emphasized that the e-samridhi portal’s Launch will be beneficial for Indian agriculture and farmers’ bright future towards self-reliance as the portal signifies the government’s vision of a new green revolution including encompassing pulses and oil seeds along with other traditional crops.
