Maj Gen (Retd) Dhruv Katoch: “Positive Escalation” May Stabilise Situation in Coming Days

By A Staff Reporter

Amidst intensifying military engagements between India and Pakistan, Major General (Retired) Dhruv Katoch, a prominent strategic affairs commentator, has termed the current developments a “positive escalation”, suggesting that the coming 2–3 days will be critical in determining the trajectory of the conflict.

Speaking to media on Saturday, Katoch emphasized the delicate balance between escalation and control in armed conflicts. “I see this as a positive escalation. Over the next 2–3 days, we will see how the situation plays out,” he said, noting that while the situation remains volatile, the present phase could serve as a necessary pressure point leading to clarity.

Warning against complacency, Katoch cautioned that if firm control is not exercised soon, the conflict could spiral beyond manageable levels. “A time comes when despite best efforts, escalation cannot be controlled. Violence has its own take,” he observed, reflecting on the unpredictable dynamics of warfare.
