Mumbai, Maharashtra – Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has strongly defended the suspension of SP MLA Abu Azmi from the Budget session of the Maharashtra Assembly, stating that the decision was taken in response to the sentiments of the people.

“Keeping in mind the emotions of Maharashtra’s people, he has been suspended by the Speaker. Anyone who disrespects Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj or Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj will not be spared by Maharashtra,” Shinde declared.

He further warned that the action against Azmi was just the first step and indicated that stricter consequences could follow if similar statements were made in the future. “This is just a signal—if he repeats such actions, Maharashtra will not forgive him,” Shinde asserted.
