Landslide causes damage, claims life in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and stops Yatra

Intense rainfall in North western regions Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh has claimed 2 lives, led to landslides, floods. Roads has been waterlogged, cars washed away, and buildings  have been destroyed.

Intense rainfall in North western regions Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh has claimed 2 lives, led to landslides, floods. Roads has been waterlogged, cars washed away, and buildings  have been destroyed. According to the State Disaster Management Authority, 124 roads have been blocked, mostly along the Chandigarh-Manali and Bajaura-Kautala Highways.

A 15 km long jam was caused in the Mandi- Kullu highway. Many people have also been reported to be trapped near Baggi bridge. The authorities have also decided to halt the kedarnath pilgrimage at the Sonprayag village in Rudraprayag district. The devotees have been told to proceed only after taking note of weather conditions. In order to meet emergencies and alleviate the suffering of the people, State Disaster officials and Health personals have been put on high alert.
