Mumbai: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has voiced concern over the rapid decline in the Parsi community's population and outlined the government's initiatives to address this issue. Speaking at a recent event, Rijiju emphasized that the Indian government has launched the Jiyo Parsi scheme to support and revitalize the community. He mentioned that a meeting with Parsi representatives was held to discuss measures for population growth and acknowledged the significant contributions of Parsis to the nation.

“The Parsi community is decreasing rapidly, and the government of India has introduced the Jiyo Parsi scheme to provide essential support,” Rijiju said. “To help increase the population of the Parsi community, the government will offer necessary assistance, including medical healthcare and financial aid.” This initiative aims to address demographic challenges and ensure the preservation of the Parsi heritage in India.

In addition to discussing the Parsi community, Rijiju addressed concerns regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. He clarified that the bill has generated diverse opinions within the Muslim community, with some members supporting it and others opposing it. “There should be no confusion regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill,” Rijiju stated. “We have engaged with representatives from the Muslim community, and in the Joint Parliamentary Committee, everyone has the right to express their views. It is important that no one misleads the public or creates unnecessary confusion about the bill.”
