Thiruvananthapuram, April 22: The Government of Kerala has declared a three-day mourning period to mark the demise of Pope Francis, a globally revered spiritual leader and head of the Roman Catholic Church.
As per the official statement issued by the state government, a two-day state mourning will be observed on April 22 and 23. In addition, one more day of mourning will be observed on the day of the Pope's funeral. The date for the funeral will be communicated once it is officially confirmed by the Vatican.
During the mourning period, all official events, celebrations, and public entertainment programmes will remain suspended. Government offices are expected to function with a subdued protocol, and flags will be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect.
