Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sought urgent intervention from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to facilitate the safe evacuation of a group of tourists from the state stranded in Pokhara, Nepal. The request comes amid reports of protests and incidents of arson in the region, raising concerns over the safety of visitors.
In a social media post, Vijayan said he had written to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, requesting immediate action to bring back those affected. “Wrote to @DrSJaishankar Ji seeking urgent intervention to ensure the safe evacuation of a group of tourists from Kerala stranded in Pokhara, Nepal, amid protests and arson in the area. The Govt of Kerala will extend full cooperation for all necessary coordination,” the Chief Minister stated.
