In light of rising military tensions between India and Pakistan, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Kavitha has urged the Telangana government to reschedule the upcoming Miss World 2025 event. The event, expected to draw global attention and dignitaries from across the world, is scheduled to be hosted in Hyderabad.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Kavitha, who is also a Member of the Legislative Council, expressed her concerns regarding the timing of the international pageant.
"Miss World is a popular event and is watched widely across the world. However, at a time when there are tensions at the border between India and Pakistan... when our Armed Forces are engaged with one of our oldest enemies in history, we should not give the impression of sponsoring an entertainment event," she said.
"I strongly request the Telangana government to reschedule the Miss World event," she added.
The statement comes just days after Operation Sindoor, where the Indian Army launched a retaliatory strike on terrorist launchpads near the Line of Control following Pakistan's attempted drone attacks in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab.
