BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Delhi on Friday to discuss several key issues critical to the state's development. The meeting followed Siddaramaiah’s participation in a working committee meeting.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister outlined the primary matters raised with the Prime Minister, including funding challenges under The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and tax dues related to the 15th and 16th Finance Commission.
Siddaramaiah also sought central approval for two significant water resource projects: the Mahadayi project, aimed at resolving drinking water needs in the state’s northern regions, and the Mekedatu project, which focuses on providing water and generating hydroelectric power in the Cauvery basin.
“These issues are crucial for Karnataka’s progress, and I have requested the Prime Minister’s intervention for their expedited approval,” Siddaramaiah said.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by the Karnataka government to secure central support for long-pending infrastructure and developmental projects. The central government’s response to these requests will be closely monitored, as these projects hold the potential to address critical water and financial challenges in the state.
