Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called for heightened vigilance and preparedness in the state amid a recent uptick in COVID-19 cases. Speaking after a high-level review meeting with key departments, the Chief Minister confirmed that around 60 cases have been reported so far.
“Yesterday, I met with the Health Department, the Medical Education Department, and Task Force officers. We must be prepared for all situations,” Siddaramaiah said, emphasizing the need for readiness across the healthcare system. “We need to ensure that all hospital wards are kept ready,” he added.

While the current strain of the virus is not considered severe, Siddaramaiah urged citizens to remain cautious. “People with existing illnesses and the elderly should wear masks,” he advised, though he clarified that mask-wearing is not mandatory at this point.
He also noted that the central government has not issued any new guidelines, but the state is proactively monitoring the situation. The Chief Minister's remarks come amid growing concerns nationwide about the potential resurgence of COVID-19 infections, though the government has stressed that the situation is under control.
