Delhi: Senior Advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Saturday reflected on the themes of his podcast ‘Dil Se With Kapil Sibal’ as it completed its 100th episode, stressing that the platform aims to raise critical national issues and encourage meaningful public discourse. Speaking about the milestone, Sibal said the latest episode features a conversation with former Union ministers Yashwant Sinha and P. Chidambaram, centred on India’s economy and the broader question of how the nation can move toward the goal of becoming a developed country.
“The 100th episode is a conversation among me, Yashwant Sinha, and Chidambaram about the economy and how we will reach developed India,” he said. Sibal added that the discussion also delves into what he described as growing institutional compromise. “We’ve discussed how the Election Commission and other institutions are collaborating with the government, and how the ED and CBI are being misused to target people. That’s not going to lead us to a constructive dialogue for India.”
He warned that while such tactics may help those in power temporarily, they are ultimately unsustainable. “It may keep them in power for a while, but, in the ultimate analysis, power will also be taken away from them at some stage,” he said, lamenting that the country has “lost many, many wonderful years when India could have actually progressed towards our dream.”
Sibal said the purpose of ‘Dil Se’ is to highlight these concerns and continue pressing for accountability. Issuing a pointed appeal, he added, “One message I have is for the institutions of this country and the judiciary: If you want to save this country's future, stand up and be counted. Your independence is central to the survival of democracy.”
