Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, addressing the Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2025, underlined the strategic importance of diversification in global trade and production. He said recent global developments had highlighted the risks of relying excessively on a single supply chain, a single source country, or a single market. Stressing that the solution was not disengagement but balance, he pointed to diversification, risk management, and stronger domestic capacities as key strategies for the future.

The minister reiterated the government’s consistent focus on building resilience through Atmanirbharta (self-reliance). He acknowledged that increasing domestic production is not without challenges, requiring significant effort, structural change, and sustained innovation. However, he emphasized that strengthening the ability to “do more at home” was crucial for long-term economic security.

Turning to geopolitical dynamics, Dr. Jaishankar drew attention to the complexity of U.S.–Pakistan relations. He remarked that the two countries share a layered history, often marked by cooperation despite recurring frictions. His reference to past military operations underscored how certain aspects of this relationship continue to influence strategic perceptions globally.
