Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, addressing the Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2025, underscored the nuanced nature of India-China relations, stressing that they should not be seen through a narrow or overly simplified lens. He cautioned against drawing direct and rigid links between India’s ties with China and its engagements with other major powers such as the United States.
Explaining the layered nature of bilateral dynamics, Dr. Jaishankar pointed out that issues between India and China unfold over different timelines, each shaped by unique factors and circumstances. He emphasized that global developments often run on parallel tracks, and efforts to compress them into a single, integrated framework risk misrepresenting the reality of international relations.
The minister also noted that the India-China equation is part of a broader global landscape, where multiple relationships are constantly evolving. He stressed the importance of recognizing the fluidity of these ties, highlighting that each relationship follows its own trajectory.
