New Delhi: Ahead of tomorrow's all-party meeting called by the government, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh spoke to the media, outlining his party's stance on national security and the recent Operation Sindoor in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. Ramesh emphasized the importance of unity in these challenging times, calling on all political factions to set aside differences in the interest of national security.
“Immediately after the Pahalgam attack, we asked for an all-party meeting,” said Ramesh. “The government called one on 24 April, and we expected the Prime Minister to attend, but for some reason, he couldn’t. Tomorrow’s all-party meeting is being called after a powerful and decisive Operation Sindoor.”
He confirmed that Congress leaders, including the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, respectively, would be attending the meeting. The party has also expressed its expectation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would chair the session.
“This is the time for unity and solidarity,” Ramesh stressed, urging all political parties to focus on national interests rather than political agendas. He went on to applaud the armed forces for their role in Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “Operation Sindoor has attacked terrorist camps in Pakistan, and we applaud the armed forces for this operation. This is an unprecedented operation.”
In a gesture of unity, Ramesh revealed that the Indian National Congress (INC) had decided to pause all its political programs and rallies in order to stand together with the country. “As a gesture of unity and solidarity, the INC is pausing all its political programs and rallies. We have postponed all our events,” he concluded.
