"It's a Futile Exercise" Says Congress MP Regarding ED Summons

Karti Chidambaram, who appeared before the Enforcement Directorate for an interrogation round in connection with an alleged money laundering case on Tuesday morning claims that it is a futile exercise as elections are nearby.

Congress MP, Karti Chidambaram, who appeared before the Enforcement Directorate for a fresh round of inquiry in connection with an alleged money laundering case on Tuesday morning claims that it is a futile exercise as elections are nearby.

The 52-year-old MP from the Sivaganga Lok Sabha seat in Tamil Nadu had turned up before the ED for a fresh round of interrogation on the 2011 money laundering case linked to the issuance of visas to Chinese Nationals. He expressed that elections are around the corner therefore the interrogations are just the routine exercises that are being held. Moreover, he also stated that he had done such exercises before.

Previously, Chidambaram was questioned in this case on 23rd December 2023 and his statement was recorded under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA)
