By A Staff Reporter: In Bengaluru, ISRO Chief S. Somanath provided updates on the much-anticipated Chandrayaan 4 mission following its recent cabinet approval. He noted that the engineering phase has been completed, but the project requires multiple layers of further approvals before moving forward. Somanath explained that while Chandrayaan 3 aimed solely for a soft landing on the moon, Chandrayaan 4 will include a return mission, effectively doubling the satellite's size and complexity. This mission will consist of five modules and necessitate two launches due to current limitations in launch capability.
Additionally, Somanath addressed the Gaganyaan mission, confirming that it is ready for launch. He expressed optimism about launching it by the end of this year, marking a significant milestone for India’s human spaceflight ambitions. Both projects reflect ISRO's commitment to advancing space exploration and technology, aiming to elevate India's standing in the global space community.
