New Delhi, July 1 — The Indian Navy today marked a significant milestone with the commissioning of INS Tamal, the second frigate of the Tushil-class, at a ceremonial event attended by senior naval officials and dignitaries. The induction of INS Tamal represents a continued push to modernize India’s maritime defense capabilities and enhance its operational readiness in the Indo-Pacific.
INS Tamal carries the proud motto ‘Sarvada Sarvatra Vijaya’ — translating to ‘Victorious Always Everytime’ — a reflection of the Navy’s unrelenting pursuit of operational excellence and its larger ethos of being a “Combat Ready, Credible, Cohesive and Future Ready Force” committed to safeguarding India’s maritime interests anytime, anywhere.
The Tushil-class frigates are a new generation of guided-missile warships and represent an advanced iteration of the Talwar and Teg-class frigates that have served the Indian Navy with distinction. Designed for stealth, speed, and multi-dimensional warfare, the Tamal brings cutting-edge sensor suites, advanced weaponry, and enhanced electronic warfare capabilities.
