Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while addressing veterans of the 1965 war in Delhi, said India’s challenges with its neighbours since Independence should not be viewed as misfortune but as tests of the nation’s resilience and strength.

“India has not been fortunate when it comes to neighbours since Independence, but we do not see it as luck—rather as a test of our resilience and strength,” Singh remarked. He underlined that India has shaped its destiny through determination and hard work, and that the armed forces have consistently demonstrated this resolve.

Recalling recent security challenges, Singh pointed to Operation Sindoor against terrorism and the recent Pahalgam terror attack. He said such incidents, aimed at weakening national resolve, have instead strengthened India’s determination. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance, Singh noted that India’s “fierce response proved that victory is not an exception but our habit.”
