Port Victoria (Seychelles): The ships of the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS) — INS Tir, INS Shardul, and CGS Sarathi — arrived at Port Victoria on September 1 as part of their long-range training deployment in the South West Indian Ocean Region.
The visit is aimed at fostering maritime cooperation and strengthening people-to-people ties under the theme of “Building Bridges of Friendship.” Officials said the deployment provides practical training to young naval cadets while also enhancing bilateral relations with partner nations in the region.

The arrival of the Indian naval ships was marked by a ceremonial welcome hosted by the Seychelles Defence Force (SDF) band, symbolising the strong defence partnership between the two countries. In a reciprocal gesture, the Indian Navy’s ceremonial Guard and Band were paraded onboard, highlighting mutual respect and solidarity.
The deployment of 1TS is part of the Indian Navy’s ongoing efforts to enhance maritime diplomacy and regional security in the Indian Ocean. During their stay, the ships are expected to engage in joint training exercises, cultural exchanges, and outreach programmes to promote greater understanding between the two nations.
