Uttarkashi: Following a devastating cloudburst in Uttarkashi’s Dharali region, the Indian Army has reported that more than 70 individuals have been successfully rescued. The incident, which triggered landslides and flash floods, prompted an immediate multi-pronged rescue and relief operation by the armed forces.
In an official statement, the Army confirmed the deployment of two additional rescue and relief columns to the affected areas of Gangotri and Dharali. Earth-moving machinery has also been pressed into service to reopen the Harshil–Dharali road axis, which was blocked due to debris and landslides.

The Army is making use of modern technologies including drones and trained rescue dogs to locate and reach stranded civilians in remote or obstructed areas. “Evacuated individuals are being provided with medical assistance and food,” the statement noted, adding that all necessary humanitarian aid is being delivered on the ground.
Search and rescue operations continue as the Army emphasizes its commitment to reaching every affected individual. “The Indian Army remains fully committed to providing all possible support and assistance to the affected population,” the statement read.
