BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, the Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday conveyed that India vehemently objects to the remarks made by the Spokesperson of the United States of America against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's arrest.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated "We take strong objection to the remarks of the Spokesperson of the US State Department about certain legal proceedings in India. In diplomacy, states are expected to be respectful of the sovereignty and internal affairs of others. This responsibility is even more so in the case of fellow democracies. It could otherwise end up setting unhealthy precedents. India’s legal processes are based on an independent judiciary which is committed to objective and timely outcomes. Casting aspersions on that is unwarranted".

The statement comes after the Ministry of External Affairs summoned the US' Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Gloria Berbena, today. The meeting lasted for around 40 minutes.

Moreover, the USA State Department Spokesperson on Tuesday asserted that they are closely watching the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal and support a fair, transparent, and prompt legal action for the CM.

Furthermore, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court Remanded Delhi CM and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal to ED Custody till March 28 in the Delhi Liquorgate case on March 22, Friday.   The decision came as ED demanded 10-day custody of Kejriwal and submitted 28-pages of evidence alleging his involvement in the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi CM and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal from his residence in connection with the Delhi Liquorgate case. He was arrested following search operations and Interrogations conducted by the ED at his residence on Thursday evening.
