India Intercepts 300–400 Pakistani Drones in Major Airspace Violation

By A Staff Reporter

New Delhi, May 9, 2025: In a significant escalation of cross-border hostilities, India reported that Pakistan violated its airspace on the night of May 8–9, deploying approximately 300 to 400 drones across the western border. The drones targeted 36 locations, including military installations and places of worship. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed that Indian armed forces intercepted and neutralized many of these drones using both kinetic and non-kinetic measures.

Pakistan's use of Turkish-made Asisguard Songar drones was confirmed through forensic analysis of the wreckage. Additionally, Pakistan did not close its civil airspace during the attack, endangering civilian flights. Indian officials condemned this action, highlighting the risk posed to international aviation.

In retaliation, India launched airstrikes targeting Pakistani air defense systems. Reports indicate that an air defense system in Lahore was neutralized. The Indian response was described as proportionate and aimed at degrading Pakistan's military capabilities.

The Ministry of External Affairs has emphasized India's preparedness to respond to any further provocations and has called for international condemnation of Pakistan's actions. The situation remains tense, with both nations on high alert and international calls for de-escalation
