Freetown, Sierra Leone, May 31 — During a high-level diplomatic outreach visit to Sierra Leone, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Sasmit Patra delivered a sharp critique of Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism while highlighting India’s constructive global contributions. Speaking on behalf of the Indian all-party delegation, Patra contrasted the two nations’ trajectories in terms of development, security, and international engagement.

“While India launches satellites, Pakistan launches suicide bombers,” Patra said during meetings with Sierra Leonean officials and civil society representatives. “India exports software, Pakistan exports terror. India builds universities, Pakistan breeds extremism. India empowers youth with innovation, Pakistan radicalises them with hate.”

Patra’s remarks come in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians and prompted India to launch Operation Sindoor — a retaliatory strike on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

“India sends doctors to save lives, Pakistan sends terrorists to take lives,” Patra continued. “India invests in artificial intelligence and clean energy, Pakistan invests in arms and ammunition. India strengthens democracies, Pakistan shelters dictators and militants. India wins hearts through diplomacy, Pakistan plots attacks in the dark.”

The Indian delegation, part of a global mission visiting 33 capitals, is explaining the rationale behind Operation Sindoor and seeking international cooperation in isolating state sponsors of terror. Patra’s statements were aimed at underlining the broader ideological divide and the moral imperative to choose peace and progress over violence and extremism.
