Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has weighed in on the ongoing farmers' protests, holding the Congress party responsible for the plight of farmers in the country. In a statement on Thursday, Saini urged the Opposition to refrain from politicizing the issue while praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies as pro-farmer.

"The farmers' issue is not a matter of politics. Prime Minister Modi has always worked in favor of farmers and has consistently taken decisions that benefit them," said Saini. He accused the Congress of using the crisis for political gain, claiming their past policies are the root cause of the farmers' current situation.

He added, "Congress leaders are raising placards, but they should look at their tenure behind those placards. The Opposition should not do politics on this issue because the kind of politics Congress is indulging in is only leading to their decline."

Saini further emphasized that the Modi government has introduced a range of measures aimed at improving the livelihoods of farmers, including reforms in agricultural markets and direct financial support. According to him, these steps have been implemented with the farmers' long-term interests in mind.

The ongoing farmers' protests have drawn sharp political divides, with the Opposition, including Congress, staging demonstrations and criticizing government policies. However, Saini dismissed these actions as opportunistic, stating that Congress's attempts to gain political mileage are counterproductive.

As protests continue in parts of Haryana and across the nation, the Chief Minister's comments underline the escalating tensions between political parties over the handling of the farmers' crisis.
