Vadodara, Gujarat: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday expressed condolences over the loss of lives following the collapse of a span of the Gambhira Bridge connecting Anand and Vadodara. At least nine people were reported dead and several injured in the incident, which occurred earlier in the day.
In an official statement, the Chief Minister described the event as “sad” and offered prayers for those who lost their lives. He said, “The tragedy caused by the collapse of one of the 23 spans of the Gambhira bridge connecting Anand and Vadodara is sad. I pray for those killed in this accident.”
CM Patel added that he has spoken to the Vadodara District Collector and instructed officials to prioritize the treatment of the injured and ensure necessary arrangements without delay.
Rescue operations are being carried out by fire brigade units from the local municipality and the Vadodara Municipal Corporation, with support from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Boats and trained swimmers have been deployed at the site to aid in recovery efforts.
