Delhi: In a significant move to support students and researchers, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed the launch of the "One Nation One Subscription" initiative, aimed at providing Indian universities with access to high-quality global research publications.

Speaking about the initiative, Vaishnaw explained, “For youths and students, one of the biggest decisions taken today is 'One Nation One Subscription'. High-quality research publications, which are often expensive, will now be made accessible to all educational institutions in the country.”

Under this program, all the world-renowned journals will be subscribed to collectively by the government, allowing universities across India to access them without individual subscriptions. The initiative is expected to bridge the resource gap faced by institutions, particularly those in smaller cities and rural areas, in accessing international research materials.

Vaishnaw further stated that the total estimated cost of implementing the initiative is around ₹6,000 crore, reflecting the government’s commitment to transforming the research landscape in India. He highlighted that this step would not only enhance the quality of education but also foster innovation and academic collaboration across the nation.

The "One Nation One Subscription" initiative is expected to empower students and researchers with the tools necessary for global-level academic work, significantly improving the research capabilities of Indian educational institutions.
