Panaji — In a landmark achievement, Goa has officially declared itself a fully literate state, becoming a national model for educational progress and inclusivity. The announcement was made by the Goa Chief Minister's Office (CMO) on the occasion of the 39th Goa Statehood Day, marking a moment of pride and celebration for the coastal state.

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, while addressing the occasion, emphasized that the milestone was the result of collective and sustained efforts over the years to improve education infrastructure and outreach. “Our sustained collective efforts to strengthen the education sector with New Advancements, NEP 2020, have yielded the result,” said Dr. Sawant.

Under the state’s flagship campaign titled "Jan-Jan Sakshar", the literacy drive targeted citizens aged 15 and above and focused on promoting lifelong learning across communities. The success of the program was made possible by a vast and committed network of volunteers, which included retired teachers, National Service Scheme (NSS) units, teacher training college students, and on-ground education professionals.
