Girl found dead in Hostel Room in Mumbai

By Avideep Nandi Majumdar: A 19 year old girl from Vidarbha, Maharashtra was found dead in the 4th floor of a women's college in posh Marine Drive. She was raped , stangulated by a man.  The suspect, Om Prakash Kanaujia, used to work as a security guard in the college and according to the friends and family of the deceased, he used to harass the girl and  the authorities of the college used to ignore the complaints. He later committed suicide by jumping in front of  a train. A senior IPS officer said that she was sleeping in her room when the suspect went to her room and knocked rigorously. Since it was very early morning, the girl opened the door and the suspect came inside her room. She had told her friend that the suspect wanted to sleep beside her, but she refused and kicked him out of her room. yet he kept on insisting. During the preliminary report,  it was found that the suspect used to get over friendly with girls, and the girls used to avoid him.. yet he wanted to strike a conversation. On that fateful night, the family of the girl tried to contact Kanojia, but he didn't respond so they contacted her friend and found her body at 4pm,  the brother of the girl said. The suspect had locked the door from outside before escaping. The Marine Drive had registered a case of rape and murder against Kaojia and are also taking the statements of the relatives of the deceased, other residents as well as the staffers.
