BY A STAFF REPOTER: Four people, including two children, were killed when a truck rammed into them in Maharashtra's Pune on Monday night. The accident took place around 9.30 pm near Swaminarayan Temple and Navle Bridge on the Pune-Bengaluru highway, officials said.

Police said prima facie it appeared that the truck hit a container due to brake failure and later hit another truck, which later caught fire. A team from the Pune Municipal Corporation fire department rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

The bodies of the victims have been removed from the burnt truck and taken to the hospital for further action. Police said there were six people in the truck at the time of the incident. Four of them died and two others managed to escape by jumping out of the truck. They were also injured in the accident.
