Mumbai: The first Tesla Model Y car in India was officially delivered on Thursday at the ‘Tesla Experience Center’ in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik became the first owner, describing the purchase as a symbolic step toward promoting sustainable transport in the country.

Speaking after the delivery, Sarnaik expressed his delight at being the first Tesla customer in India. “I consider myself fortunate to have bought the first Tesla car in India today. Through this, I want to spread awareness and encourage people to purchase more eco-friendly vehicles. In the next 10 years, more and more electric vehicles should come on the roads,” he said.

Sarnaik also highlighted the role of electric vehicles in shaping the habits of the younger generation. “I have bought this first car for my grandson, and I want parents who can afford such cars to use them for dropping their children, so that awareness can spread among the younger generation as well,” he added.
