Chennai: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed an event in Chennai, defending the Prime Minister's meticulous approach to policy-making and clarifying the vision for India's future. She emphasized that the Prime Minister actively seeks ground-level opinions before formulating policies.
"The PM literally labours to know what the views are on the ground. So, policies are never made in a hurry, they are never made with a confidence that we know it all," Sitharaman stated. She underscored the importance of informed and deliberate policy decisions, noting that the government is committed to understanding and addressing real-world perspectives.
Sitharaman also addressed the context of political slogans and long-term goals. Referring to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, she argued, "Before the (Lok Sabha) election campaign, there was a context to it also that today in India, if you are looking wanting to reach a good stage of being developed as a country by 2047, it's alright for us to say that it is a political sloganeering."
She questioned whether anyone truly wants to see the country remain stagnant, suggesting that the vision for 2047 should be seen as more than just political rhetoric. "No, don't all of us want to see this country better off?" Sitharaman concluded, reinforcing the government’s commitment to long-term national development and progress.
