Families Urge Govt to Evacuate Indian Students from Iran Amid Escalating Tensions

By A Staff Reporter

Srinagar, June 16: As the geopolitical situation in West Asia worsens, families of Indian students stranded in Iran have issued emotional appeals to the Government of India, demanding immediate evacuation of their children. The students, many of whom are studying medicine in Iranian universities, are reportedly facing growing anxiety, uncertainty, and fear due to the volatile security environment.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, a distraught parent shared her concern: “My daughter is in her third year of college. She was trying to survive the situation, but now they are being traumatised and are not safe. Even the locals are shifting from the area. They are trying to contact the embassy for help, but there has been no update for evacuation. They are Indian children and should get help.”

According to families, students have been in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran but claim that no concrete steps for evacuation have been communicated yet. The escalating situation, triggered by cross-border strikes and growing tensions involving Israel and Iran, has led to fears of a wider conflict, making foreign nationals, especially students, increasingly vulnerable.
