As the debate over the US deporting Indian immigrants intensifies, former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Shashi Kant has weighed in on the issue, offering a nuanced perspective on the matter. Addressing the controversy, he acknowledged the human rights concerns associated with deportation but maintained that countries have the right to enforce immigration laws.

"If we look at the incident from the angle of human rights, then it is wrong. However, there are several aspects. If only illegal immigrants have been deported, then we cannot question this (deportation) because no country wants illegal immigrants in their country," Shashi Kant stated.
