Enumeration form distribution in WB, lakhs untraceable: Election Commission

By A Staff Reporter: Election Commission has not been able to deliver enumeration form to lakhs of individuals as they are untraceable. Sources close to state Chief Electoral Officer’s office indicated that many among these lakhs of individuals are either dead, or have migrated to other states, or were duplicate voters or ghost voters. “We have almost come to the end of the process of distribution of the forms by BLO s. Instructions have been given to the ground level to try locate the missing individuals to as much extent as possible but if they are not available, we cannot help it,” a senior Election Commission official said. Maintaining that there is no reason to panic, senior Election Commission officials indicated that no genuine voters will be omitted from the list while efforts will be made to ensure that there are no ghost and duplicate electorates.
