BY A STAFF REPORTER: Days after their controversial statements, the Election Commission of India censured BJP MP Dilip Ghosh and Congress Leader Supriya Shrinate on April 1, Monday.

After receiving the replies from both political leaders following a show cause notice, ECI issued an order stating that they were convinced that both individuals made a personal attack and thus violated the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct. The ECI further warned them to be cautious in public utterances during the MCC period. Moreover, the ECI assured that their election-related communications will be specially and additionally monitored by the Commission from this time onwards.

BJP MP Dilip Ghosh along with Congress Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate received a show cause notice from the Election Commission of India on Wednesday regarding their remarks on Mamata Banerjee and Lok Sabha Candidate Kangana Ranaut respectively.

BJP MP Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday took a jibe at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and remarked that she should identify her own father first as she calls herself the daughter of certain states.

A copy of the warning notice is also sent to party chiefs to remind their employees to be cautious while interacting in public and to avoid making derogatory remarks or violating MCC norms.

Moreover, Supriya Shrinate posted derogatory remarks against BJP Lok Sabha Candidate Kangana Ranaut and her constituency 'Mandi' shortly after the announcement of Ranaut's candidacy. However, Shrinate claimed that the post was made by a parody account misusing her name.
