By A Staff Reporter — During an event in Pune, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar discussed India’s evolving global presence and its ability to represent national interests on an international scale. Dr. Jaishankar underscored how the world perceives India differently today due to its distinct leadership and government approach, particularly noting the success of the G20 summit hosted by India, which attracted significant global attention.
"The world is coming to India because there are opportunities here," Jaishankar stated, emphasizing the importance of putting India's national interests at the forefront. He highlighted India’s unique position in international diplomacy, mentioning its ability to engage with both Russia and Ukraine during their ongoing conflict. "How many countries can speak with both President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Vladimir Putin?" he asked, noting that India’s stance on the Ukraine issue gave voice to those who wished to express similar sentiments but could not.
Jaishankar concluded by acknowledging that India’s proactive approach and firm voice in global matters are gaining respect and influence, reflecting a new era of Indian diplomacy on the world stage.
