Delhi: Speaking at a high-profile summit, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s distinctive diplomatic role in navigating some of the world's most challenging conflicts. Drawing attention to India's ability to maintain open dialogue with rival nations, Jaishankar remarked, “Prime Minister Modi went to Russia, and he met President Putin. Then he went to Kyiv. Just look over the last 10 years. Right now there is a war going on in Ukraine. How many countries, how many Prime Ministers, how many leaders have the ability to go to Moscow, talk frankly, go to Kyiv, talk frankly, go back to Moscow and go back to Kyiv?"

Jaishankar’s comments shed light on India's balanced approach to international relations, underlining how the country manages to maintain communication with both sides of the ongoing war in Ukraine. He pointed out that very few world leaders are trusted enough to engage in such open and candid discussions with both Russia and Ukraine.

The External Affairs Minister also referenced India’s active role in the Middle East, another region plagued by conflict. "Similarly, there's another war going on in the Middle East. Now, not many people know that even last year, the number of times we've had conversations with Iran and conversations with Israel. That's also there,” Jaishankar added, stressing India's diplomatic engagement with both Iran and Israel.

This strategic positioning has not gone unnoticed. Jaishankar mentioned how the G7 has shown significant interest in India's involvement on the global stage. “G7 is very keen, please join our conference. You are a big democratic market economy and an influential player,” he said, highlighting India's growing importance as a global leader and trusted mediator.
