New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar, speaking at the CII Partnership Summit in Delhi, addressed India's evolving relationship with the United States, particularly in light of the second Trump administration, as well as regional dynamics that impact economic and social linkages.

"The advent of the second Trump administration is obviously a major consideration in business efforts, and I'm not surprised you spend some time debating it," Jaishankar remarked. Reflecting on the past, he noted that different countries would draw from their experiences with the first administration to navigate the second term.

On the India-US relationship, Jaishankar highlighted the deepening strategic convergence between the two nations over time. "I can state with confidence that the strategic convergences with the United States or India have only grown deeper with time. They have created a larger environment in which more collaborative possibilities can be explored," he said.

Acknowledging the complexity of international relations, he added, "Naturally, between two major economies, there will always be some give and take... A lot of what lies ahead would be in fashioning terms of engagement that are perceived and recognized to be mutually beneficial."

The minister also touched upon the importance of India bringing more to the table to strengthen its appeal as a partner.

Shifting focus to regional dynamics, Jaishankar observed, "Some thoughts about the neighbourhood would also be appropriate given the changes that we have seen in recent times. The reality on the ground is that our economies and societies are closer linked than ever before."

The remarks underscore India's strategic priorities, emphasizing collaboration, adaptability, and regional interconnectedness in a rapidly changing global landscape.
