Bhubaneswar, Odisha – External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar expressed confidence in the preparations for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), set to take place in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10, 2025. Addressing the media, he highlighted the event's significance in fostering connections between the Indian diaspora and their homeland.
“The preparation is good, it will start from tomorrow,” Dr. Jaishankar stated. He noted that the event will begin with the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on January 8, followed by the formal inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 9. President Droupadi Murmu will join the celebrations on January 10, adding to the event’s prominence.
“Our ministers will also be there in large numbers, so those who are from outside will also get an opportunity to meet them, so that they get to know that there is a change in India,” the EAM remarked, emphasizing the platform's role in showcasing India’s transformation under its current leadership.
Dr. Jaishankar also highlighted the inclusion of three exhibitions at the event, designed to showcase India’s rich heritage, achievements, and opportunities. “I think that it will be very interesting for the people who will come. It will be an opportunity to connect people through tourism. I think that tourism will get a boost,” he said, underlining the event's potential to promote India as a global tourism destination.
