DRDO Successfully Conducts Maiden Flight Test of Long-Range Cruise Missile

By A Staff Reporter — Odisha: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the first flight test of its Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha, on November 12, 2024. The test was conducted using a mobile articulated launcher, demonstrating the missile’s adaptability and range capabilities.

During the test, the LRLACM’s sub-systems performed seamlessly, meeting all the primary mission objectives. The missile’s trajectory and performance were closely monitored through an array of range sensors, including radar, an Electro-Optical Tracking System, and telemetry, all positioned at different locations by the ITR to capture comprehensive data across the entire flight path.

The successful maiden test underscores the DRDO’s progress in enhancing India’s strategic long-range precision strike capabilities. This development marks a significant milestone in the nation’s defense technology, offering enhanced reach and versatility for future operations.
