New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a show cause notice to the Accountable Manager of Air India following a serious violation of flight time regulations. The aviation regulator revealed that during a recent spot check, it was observed that the manager personally operated two international flights—AI133 from Bangalore to London—on consecutive days, May 16 and 17, 2025. Both flights reportedly exceeded the maximum permissible flight time limit of 10 hours.

Such a breach raises significant concerns regarding flight safety and crew fatigue management, which are critical under DGCA norms and international aviation standards. The DGCA has sought a formal explanation from the concerned official within seven days, asking why enforcement action should not be initiated for the violations.

“Operating beyond stipulated flight time limits undermines aviation safety protocols. This is a serious matter,” a senior official said on condition of anonymity.
