New Delhi — Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday launched the Delhi Government’s Air Pollution Mitigation Plan–2025, outlining a comprehensive, multi-pronged approach to tackle the city’s persistent air quality crisis. The launch event was attended by Cabinet Ministers Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Kapil Mishra.

In a major first, CM Gupta announced the Startup Innovation Challenge, inviting creative technological solutions from startups to combat pollution across the National Capital Region. “This is the first time such a challenge is being introduced in Delhi,” she noted.

Key highlights of the plan include the deployment of 13 mist sprayers at major pollution hotspots, 200 mechanical road sweepers, over 1000 water sprinklers, and 140 anti-smog guns—all operating year-round, barring the monsoon season.

To curb vehicular emissions, ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras will be installed at city borders and petrol pumps to detect and restrict end-of-life vehicles. Gupta also stressed the government's commitment to rapidly expand electric vehicle infrastructure across the capital.

Further bolstering green cover, the government will kick off the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign on June 5, with an ambitious goal of planting 70 lakh saplings in 2025.
